Built from years of testing Pinterest not from theory…

Hi I am Hemant Sarkar, the founder of Pintrendo.
I have been working with websites and online marketing since 2011. My journey started with SEO. Like website owners I spent years trying to understand Google adapt to algorithm updates recover from traffic losses and figure out what actually works when the rules keep changing.
Eventually I started looking for something
Something I could test. Something I could measure.
Something where I could build a system instead of constantly chasing the next algorithm update.
That led me to Pinterest. My serious Pinterest journey began around 2015.
It has been anything but straightforward.
I have built sites that worked. I have built sites that failed. I have had traffic disappear overnight. I have experimented with niches, different publishing speeds, different types of content and different Pinterest strategies.
I have also been hit by Pinterest penalties.
One of my Pinterest experiments was a health website. After years of experimenting with it the site was eventually hit by a Pinterest penalty. Traffic collapsed. The website is still online. It barely generates anything today.
I didn’t shut it down.
I turned it into a testing ground.
That experience taught me something
You learn more when you have something to lose.
Today I continue experimenting with that site and other projects and openly share what I learn through my YouTube channel Pintrendo.
My other running experiment, FatLossPlanner became another important part of my Pinterest journey.
What started as a health website eventually became a case study and testing environment where I continue experimenting and documenting results.
These experiments have shaped how I approach Pinterest today.
I don’t think of Pinterest as a set it and forget it thing…
I don’t think of Pinterest as just a tool where I throw some boards up and nice looking pins and just wait for the traffic to come.
Pinterest is a system.
A system where you have input, output, signals, limitations, patterns within the system and so on.
There is a big understanding to how Pinterest works and there is one of the biggest lessons I have learned … and it is that you can’t be to lazy with Pinterest but you also can’t be aggressive with Pinterest.
You can over-pin and get penalized, you can under-pin and have nothing to show for your efforts and if you pin say right amount there’s still a chance for failure if your content, keywords, annotations and more are wrong.
The challenge is finding the key to open the system and get what you want out of it.
A key that only comes from trial and error which is why years of experience are so important.
I think people overlook the importance of understanding the system and how to make it work for you.
Why I built Pintrendo
I built Pintrendo because I needed it myself.
I was handling several sites and clients but I kept running into the same roadblocks with Pinterest.
I noticed that keyword research tools for Pinterest are either very pricey or just straight confusing and even if you did find the right keyword there’s usually another layer to it.
Annotation tools are just as confusing.
That’s when I decided to build my own suite that I knew would help me and eventually help others.
This isn’t just some random set of tools I threw together because I felt like it. This is a product of my process, how I research, analyze and work with Pinterest.
My goal is to help you with your process as well.
To find opportunities, understand the signals, dig deeper, build something worth while, test, track, learn and so much more.
What Pintrendo does
Pintrendo today combines a range of tools/resources focused around Pinterest research, content analysis and modern content creation.
Pinterest Keyword Research
The keyword research system helps to reveal Pinterest keyword opportunities and includes keywords that may be underserved.
But I didn’t want the process to stop there either… a keyword can often lead to another keyword.
A keyword can often lead to another keyword.
So Pintrendo allows the user to dig through keyword opportunities and uncover those longer-tail variations that may otherwise remain hidden.
This deeper layer of keyword research is something that I am looking to develop further.
Pinterest Annotations
Keywords are just part of the Pinterest search equation… pins can also carry annotations and other contextual signals.
Pintrendo can extract the annotations associated with pins and use them as another layer of research.
Those annotations can then be dug into to uncover additional keyword opportunities.
This is something I developed because I found myself doing this kind of research myself.
Pinterest Keyword Clustering
Finding hundreds or thousands of keywords isn’t particularly useful when you don’t know how they relate to one another.
The clustering tools help to group related Pinterest keywords together so they can be better analyzed and utilized.
AI Image Detection & Image Forensics
Pinterest is changing.
I’ve personally been testing how AI generated and AI assisted content behaves itself across multiple websites and believe that creators need to pay attention to how platforms respond to such synthetic content.
My observations are based on my own testing and are to be taken as experiments and opinions rather than a guarantee regarding Pinterest’s ranking systems.
Pintrendo’s AI image tools are designed to help creators investigate images, dig into available forensic information and understand if an image may carry signs associated with AI generation or editing.
One of the interesting parts about the system is that part of the detection analysis happens inside the browser.
The AI image detector can download its ONNX model locally and run processing on the user’s device.
AI Text Detection
Pintrendo also has an AI text detection tool designed to help creators research text and understand if it has characteristics associated with AI-generated writing.
Like all AI detection systems, this should be taken as an analysis rather than a confirmation of anything.
Pinterest Blueprint
Tools are useful.
But tools can’t replace understanding.
Which is why I also created the Pinterest Blueprint for those who are completely new to Pinterest or who find themselves stuck.
The Blueprint aims to explain the system in a practical way, not just to tell them to “create pins consistently.”
It also includes 7 days of handholding so that buyers aren’t just left to themselves with another course.
Pinterest Services
I also work directly with Pinterest clients.
I currently have 26+ client accounts under management and as of the time this page was written, the profiles I work with on average have more than 3 million monthly reach per profile.
These numbers are not to be taken as a promise of results.
Pinterest performance can vary greatly between accounts, niche, content quality, history and many other considerations.
For me, what’s most importanat is that working with real accounts helps keep my knowledge grounded based on actual experimentation.
Who I built Pintrendo for
Pintrendo is perfect for people who want to learn about Pinterest and not simply follow generic Pinterest advice.
That includes:
Bloggers
Pinterest managers
Small businesses
Etsy sellers
Content creators
Affiliate marketers
Agencies
Beginners
You don’t need to be an experienced Pinterest marketer to be able to use Pintrendo.
Pinterest can be confusing when you don’t know what to research first, what keywords to target, how to utilise annotations or how to actually build a content strategy based on your research.
I want to help with that.
My philosophy is simple
I don’t believe in letting creators be blindly productive and simply follow what seems to be the most simple solution.
I’ve seen that over and over again.
Someone creates a simple Pinterest checklist and someone else transforms it into a course.
Someone else recites it on their YouTube channel and eventually everyone believes in the same generic solution when in reality, it’s just a simple checklist.
Pinterest marketing is more nuanced than that.
It’s about understanding why certain things happen.
Why keywords work. What is the keyword telling you?
What happens when I change my publishing patterns.
Change what I write about.
Change my creatives.
And what the data has to say about it.
That’s the kind of Pinterest research I want to do with Pintrendo.
I still experiment
I want to continue to experiment because I don’t want Pintrendo to become just another website with tools that the creator simply writes about and doesn’t actively test out because the industry changes.
Pinterest changes.
Technology changes.
AI changes.
The way users behave changes.
And the way platforms distribute content changes.
So I want to continue to experiment.
Sometimes the experiment works.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
Sometimes it has surprising results.
Sometimes it’s a total disaster.
I think that’s important because I can learn from both my successes and my failures in the space and no theoretical Pinterest guide can teach you as much as seeing someone fail and seeing what went wrong.
I also want to share those experiments on a public platform like my YouTube channel where I talk about Pinterest experiments, cases studies, strategies and lessons learned from real websites.
Built by a Pinterest user for Pinterest users
Pintrendo was not born out of a boardroom decision to create a Pinterest tool.
It was born out of my experiences with Pinterest.
Researching keywords.
Managing websites.
Clients.
Testing.
Mistakes.
Rebuilding.
And the ever-askable question of what happens if?
This same philosophy is used in the creation of Pintrendo’s tools.
The tools will continue to be updated and evolved as I continue to experiment.
Some tools may be removed.
Products retired.
New ones may be added.
Features may change or be added as I continue to learn.
If you notice a product mentioned elsewhere on this website is missing, please excuse any delay in removing or adding specific references. Pintrendo is an ever evolving project.
More than a tool
My long term ambitions for Pintrendo extend to beyond a Pinterest keyword tool.
I intend on developing Pintrendo into a system for serious Pinteresters.
Someplace to research.
Analyze.
Discover.
Test.
Learn.
And ultimately make better decisions.
I can not promise you that I will turn Pinterest into something easy to use.
As Pinterest is not someething easy to use.
All I offer is my intent to develop and provide tools based on my own learning and testing around any issues I stumble across.
As after more than ten years of working online, the one lesson I learned was that you can’t stay ahead of the game by knowing all, but rather by continuing to learn and improve yourself.
And thus I introduce Pintrendo, a system I am developing to stay ahead of Pinterest.
Want to see what I’m testing?
I regularly share Pinterest experiments, case studies, strategies and lessons through my YouTube channel, PinspireMe and as I am catching up with everything, I will also share it in my blog.
If you’re interested in seeing the thinking behind the tools rather than just using the tools themselves, that’s the best place to follow along.
